OUACHITA
MOUNTAIN HIKERS - - OVERNIGHT HIKES

October 10,11 & 12
We will leave from Cranfords on Highway 5 near the East Gate
at 8 am on
Monday Oct 10 and drive up highway 9 to Morrilton where we
will stop at
the Mcdonalds for a brief rest stop. At the
intersection of highways 9
and US65 we will turn North and proceed thru Clinton, Leslie, and
Marshall.
We then go 4 miles north of Marshall to Bear Creek Cabins which
is signed on the right side of highway(65) and the
office is just off the
highway. We will stop briefly here to register and. all gather there
by noon to set off for lunch and our afternoon walk.
The next stop is the Visitor Center for The Tyler Bend Park which is
several miles North on 65 where we will leave unneccary
cars and
proceed to lunch and the walk from Gilbert back to Tyler Bend visitor
center.
Because we are in four cabins and the campground at Tyler Bend I do not
think we will have group meals, although any that want to prepare their
own can do so. You should bring breakfast for Tuesday and Wednesday
morning and lunch for Tuesday as we will be on the trail. Linda and I
plan to eat the evening meals in Marshall.
Bring snacks for the hikes and any alchollic
beverages you may desire as
this is a dry area of Arkanssas.
