2011 Upcoming Events

OMH is currently on summer break.  We will begin hiking again September 8.

We normally hikes twice a week - on Thursday and Saturday.

“Welcome Back” Hike

OMH Reunion

Lake Catherine State Park

Kick off the new hiking season with our traditional “Welcome Back” hike and pot luck picnic.
All former hikers and former members of OMH are invited to join us on this day.

We also welcome any new hikers to join us on this day.  It is a great time to get started.

For many years Ouachita Mountain Hikers have performed this service for

Hot Springs National Park.

Just show up at 9:00 am at Gulpha Gorge Campground

Trail Maintenance

Thurs, Sept 15
OMH Supports Friends of the Ouachita Trail by adopting ten miles of the

 Ouachita National Recreation Trail in Flatside Wilderness.

Trail maintenance is strenuous, but rewarding work.  If you can hike, you can help.

Start building hours now. Fifty hours of trail maintenance earns your
 “OMH Trail Crew” T-shirt.

"Hike to Breakfast" in Hot Springs National Park

Saturday, Oct 8

Meet at Gulpha Gorge campground, hike around Hot Springs Mountain to town;

Have breakfast in a local restaurant; then hike a different route back to the gorge.

Tues - Thurs, Oct 11 - 13

Accommodations:  Tyler Bend area

Hiking:  Various hikes will be offered, including the Buffalo River Trail and Tyler bend loops.
