Ouachita Mountain Hikers

Thursday May 15: Trail Maintenance (4 hour work crew)

    Meet At: 8:00 AM Jessieville Ranger District Work Center (Hwy 7, north of Jessieville, across

                from visitor's center) Carpool donation from Jessieville WC to work area $3

                Hot Springs: 7:30 AM DeSoto Park, carpool donation to Jessieville $3

 

    Bring: Water, boots, work gloves, tick repellent and trail snack

 

    Tools: Bring lopper or swing blade, all other tools will be provided

 

    We will be working in Flatside Wilderness on the section of the Ouachita Trail the OMH has

    adopted, starting at FR 124 and working east.  We will use loppers and swing blades to clear

    weeds from the trail.  Be prepared for warm weather and ticks.  This is a short work day because

    of the meeting, so we should be through by noon.

    Hikers are appreciating the work we do on the Ouachita Trail keeping it clear of debris and

    overgrowth.  Thanks for caring about the trail and those who use it.

 

Thursday Evening May 15: Monthly Meeting

 

    Time: 6:00 PM, Garland County Public Library, Hot Springs

 

    Program: The program will be a presentation of the Grand Canyon Adventure II which occurred

                  in March 08.  There will be pictures and fascinating stories of the hikers' experiences.

                  Doors open at 5:30 PM-OMH T-shirts will be sold before the meeting begins.

 

Saturday May 17: Gulpha Gorge Cleanup

    Meet At: Inside front gate of park

 

    The park appreciates our efforts in keeping this strip of road clear of debris.
